So my lovable lil' camera phone died on Christmas. Someone dropped it or something, so it still worked, but the display was dead. Either way, it's gone now, probably been refurbished and given to someone else.
My replacement phone is a Sony Ericsson W580i, which has a camera of identical resolution, but without even an LED spot, pics in any kind of darkness are out of the question. The picture quality is also worse than my old phone, but still above average.
Needless to say, I'm not going to have any worthwhile updates for a long time. I can barely use this camera just for day-to-day shots and social events, much less anything artworthy.
Once I recover my financial situation from rampant holiday spending, I'll hopefully get myself a nice little point-and-shoot digital camera, preferably one with decent photo quality, good flash, and 5+ Mpx. Even better would be a good optical zoom, short focus/shoot time, and tripod mountability.
ugh, I'm probably looking at $200-500, which is cheap for a camera, but still well out of my way. Looks like that SLR will have to wait like.... forever.
